VENUS BAY / VIC
NEW SINGLE STOREY DWELLING
This modestly sized holiday home was designed for a private client seeking a strong gabled form to define the front streetscape. The restrained colour palette provides a refined architectural facade that references the coastal dunes and rural farmland vernacular of Venus Bay and the nearby Point Smythe Coastal Reserve.
The overarching concept is for the dwelling to nestle within and respond to the surrounding sand dunes. The material and colour palette has been carefully selected to reinforce this connection, complemented by native Australian planting including Banksias, Heath and Tea Trees.
The project presented several site and planning challenges, including a high bushfire rating requiring a minimum 10,000L firefighting rainwater tank, CFA remote outlet and dedicated hardstand area. A Fuji aerated wastewater treatment system is proposed, incorporating a 155sqm drip irrigation field, along with bore water collection.
